SLC Director, Sam Uren, will speak at Public Transport in the North on 9 December, presenting on how local ambition can help unlock connectivity and investment across Yorkshire.
Sam will take to the stage on day two of the two-day conference, delivering a presentation titled ‘Unlocking Yorkshire through local ambition’.
Organised by Modern Railways, the established Rail in the North conference has expanded to a two-day format this year, bringing together leaders and experts from across the public transport sector. The first day will focus on bus, with the second dedicated to rail.
SLC has worked on many projects in Yorkshire supporting local authorities, developers and transport bodies turn infrastructure ambitions into deliverable projects. This has included projects such as Bradford Interchange and more recently, the Penistone Line. Sam’s presentation will explore the role that locally driven ambition can play in developing and delivering rail schemes that support communities, economic growth and improved connectivity across Yorkshire.
Sam said: “There is huge ambition across Yorkshire to improve connectivity and ensure rail delivers more for local communities and economies. This conference is a great opportunity to bring people together, share ideas and turn that ambition into action.”
The rail conference programme will feature senior figures from across the transport sector, including David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire; Tricia Williams, Managing Director of Northern; Jason Prince, Director of Urban Transport Group; John Fagan, Global Leader in Rail at Arup and more to be announced.
